I've been as busy as I've ever been, so nothing new now.  After this semester, I should have a lot more time and access to a real piano.  Do not open 'till Christmas.

It's been extremely hot here for the past six weeks.  Consequently, there's been no new music for a while.  To record, I need to close up my apartment and turn al the fans off, and it's just been plain too hot for that kind of nonsense.  However, I have been working on a few, including TLF 2 and 4, and one or two other's may be ready to record.  I deleted a few files from the server here to clear out some room.

No new music yet, but maybe tomorrow.  I had two qualifiers tuesday and wednesday, and I definitely passed one of them, the other, we'll have to see.  I'm starting to check the weather to see about heading back home for a few weeks.  I teach this summer, so I can't lolygag too much.  The links are fixed for the music on the .mac congs, so everything should be working.  Don't worry, updates soon.

Finally, something new.  Unfortunately, Cannibal Killers seems to have run aground, so I'm trying to do something else.  "The True Love Fiasco,"  It's looking like five parts, and I'm basically going to use it to play with the new equipment.  Clearly, I'm going to try to do too much electronig tinkering on whatever I put out of the new toys first, so fime songs tracing a relationship growing and then crumbling seems to be an inocuous thing to experiment on.  I've also chipped away at "Statue" but nothing remotely good has come of it yet.  I love the lyrics, but I got nothing to go with it so far.

Finally, I have all the equipment I need to record things right in GarageBand.  It only took about $500 for a MIDI controller, USB input, two Microphones (one for voice, one for guitar) and a power supply for the microphones.  I'm obviously still trying to work out some kinks, but the idea of having drums and bass, and whatever instruments I have the stamina to add is fairly exciting.  I have a prelimary recording of Strategic Booty.  It's not perfect, but I think it shows some of the promise of the new "studio."

No new song yet, but I have been playing around with GarageBand lately.  My mom bought me an iBook for my birthday/christmas present.  Now, I need to figure out a way to record on it since it has no microphone port, and I'll probably have to get a USB Midi keyboard to play with all the cool functions.  Also, I'm thinking of moving most of the storage of songs to my account at mac.com.  They have five times the storage allowance, so I won't have to compress the on-liners so much.  I'm going to keep this site, but it will be mostly for updates, blogs, email, and the links will still be here.  Then maybe Jeff and I can start putting other creative works up.(if we ever have other creative works).  I'm hoping to record Hindsight this week, and when I get a microphone adapter to restore Slacker Retrospective with a GarageBand drum track as a test song (maybe next week).  That's it.  Happy Thanksgiving.

A long overdue update, with a new song, Five Pennies.  This one came to me while walking home from the office, and I like it, but the recording is a little rough.  I'm also using metal fingerpicks for the first time.  I haven't gotten the entire hang of them yet, but I like the brighter sound with them.  It may inspire more up-tempo stuff.  we're up to seven songs since Meat Thermometer (Before the Refrain; Five Pennies; It's Not Her; Standing Room Only; The Whisky Works; Trouble Breathing; Winter Wind)  Hopefully we can fill it out by spring training.

Grad school doesn't seem so intense this time around.  I even have everything done for friday, and it's only wednesday.  As far as the PM front, I have been pretty busy getting settled into my apartment last week.  I now have my own place (shared with another guy, Yogi) but I have a private bedroom and I have been tinkering around with recording, so I may have something coming soon.  If nothing else, I'm probably going to try a couple of covers to tide myself over while I work on some new stuff (I'm awfully close on "Hindsight" but it doesn't seem right yet).

I added a GuestBook to the site today and added a new song.  My shoulder is getting better and I can finally wrap myself around the guitar.  The new song, Before the Refrain is a serious alpha release which I'm not too sure about, but I needed to get something done before I went insane.

Pavement is hard.  There won't be any new music for a month or so because pavement is hard. I'll be groggy and sleep deprived because pavement is hard.  I'm learning to type and eat and live left handed becausr pavement is hard...and tar is soft...and rollerblades don't roll over tar.  So, now I have a matching set of collarbones, one broken sixteen years ago, one yesterday.  So, I'm going to try to concentrate on my writing so we have a good stable of lyrics for when I can wrap my arm back around a guitar.  Sigh.  All kinds of free time and I can't do any of the things I enjoy, no gaming, no guitar, no...well.
